It’s that time of year where all drivers have been fully announced with their teams for the season (thank you Lewis & Mercedes for making us wait) and we can finally make our predictions for the F1 2021 Season.

This year we have two rookies and seven team changes, so how do we think they will fair? There are a few topics that fans have been debating in regards to the upcoming season, will Lewis come out on top once again? Will Daniel Ricciardo out do Lando Norris? Can Sergio Perez survive a season at Red Bull and will Aston Martin give Sebastian Vettel the confidence he needs to fight?

As much as I think I was put on this earth to cause chaos, I will explain my predictions a little. One that could be a little controversial is that I think Max is going to beat Valtteri this year, why? I’m not really sure, but I think the possibility of having a team mate that will really push him to his best could have an effect on the way he drives this season. Despite coming second in the Championship, Valtteri only finished 9 points ahead of Max and lets not forget that Max DNF’d in four of last years races, so I believe if he keeps cool and level headed – that P2 will be his.

The mid-field was ridiculously hard to predict, from 5th all the way down to 12th could be completely wrong and the more I think about it, the more I don’t even agree with myself; there were so many factors to take into account! Alonso, Two Time World Champion – and I’ve put him relatively low. I guess I’m just not expecting THAT much from Alpine this year. Despite being told I wasn’t a “true fan” for believing Daniel will beat Lando, it hasn’t changed my mind. Lando is a great driver, however Daniel really does have that edge – it’s not a bad thing, he can learn a lot from Mr Ricciardo and as a McLaren fan, I’m really excited for this driver line up. To be honest, the whole mid field will be ridiculously exciting, definitely something to look out for.

Shock Predictions
Daniel Ricciardo to win a race
Both Williams to make one Q2
Sergio Perez to get a pole position
Double McLaren podium, P2 and P3

The top three are the most common podium we have ever had in history and I can’t see it changing. However I think Max will come P2, last year we saw glimmers of brilliance with the 70th GP at Silverstone and at Abu Dubai. The new motivation from Sergio to push him on, is going to push him to new heights that he hasn’t had in a few years. Playing team orders against Mercedes will see him above Valtteri if he can keep those DNF’s to a minimum. The midfield battle is definitely going to be the most interesting, and from 5th to 12th is going to be extremely tight. With Daniel’s experience and race craft will see him be best of the rest and achieve some podiums. Fernando will be the biggest shock, he is a two time world champion and I think he is going to use his experience to get everything out of that car. Additionally, Fernando will be the driving force in Alpine, probably getting preferential treatment on new upgrades so will see the big gap between him and Esteban.

At the bottom of the table, I think this is the year George is going to have his best season yet at Williams and FINALLY get points but be consistently fighting for points. I cant see Haas being that competitive, perhaps get some lucky points but probably ended up being at the bottom of the constructors.

Shock Predictions
Seb to get his mojo back and be on podium multiple times
Shock pole from Fernando (in the wet!)
George in Q3 in Williams
Lewis DNF for the first time since Austria 2018
